Meet the Staff

Mickie Zada, General Manager

Having worked in the golf industry for more years than she cares to admit out loud, Mickie has performed nearly every golf course related job; mowing fairways and cutting putting cups, aerifying and topdressing greens, waiting tables, washing dishes, managing food and beverage operations, golf shop clerk, merchandiser, director of membership services, marketing director, clubhouse director and general manager.  She even caddied once in her college days!

Mickie’s background includes co-ownership of golf courses and a golf industry market analysis company.  Her diverse experience serves her well at Myakka Pines Golf Club.
This Club is frequently described as “a family”.  As within all healthy family structures, communication and respect are key.  Staying in touch with the Myakka Pines members, whether they are at home in this area or spending the Summer “up North”, Mickie strives to keep everyone connected. Respect for our members, protecting their tee time status and providing top-notch service, is imperative in all operational programs and policies.

Mickie arrived as General Manager at Myakka Pines Golf Club in April, 2012.  A member of the Club Manager’s Association of America, her Mission is to bring a professional level of leadership and a big splash of fun and joy to the employees and members of this outstanding Club.
Making her home in Nokomis, Florida, Mickie enjoys yoga, playing golf, walking on the beach, riding her bike on the Legacy Trail and skyping her grandkids.

Frank Perilli,  PGA Golf Professional

Prior to joining Myakka Pines as the Head Golf Professional in November, 1988, Frank graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) where he was the captain of their collegiate golf team.Frank’s passion for golf began at the age of 12 when he caddied in his hometown of Elmsford, New York at Knollwood Country Club.  After college he started his professional career at Round Hill Club in Greenwich, Connecticut. In 1978 Frank relocated to the east coast of Florida, where he served as an Assistant Professional at the Country Club of Coral Springs. Moving his chosen profession forward, five years later Frank received the designation of becoming a PGA Class-A Professional and a mere twenty-five years later was inducted, with Honors, into the PGA’s Quarter Century Club.

In addition to teaching, promoting and growing the game of golf, Frank contributes to PGA Magazine’s “Making the Game Fun” feature.  During the summer you can catch him cheering for the 27-time World Series Champions that play in the AL East.  Please pardon any playing of New York, New York to the tune of Frank Sinatra in Frank’s office.

2013 marked Frank’s twenty-fifth year as Head Golf Professional at Myakka Pines Golf Club.

Max Laubach, Assistant Golf Professional/Proshop Manager

Max started off at Myakka Pines as an intern from The Ohio State University's Professional Golf Management program. Graduating in May of 2014, he now has his degree in Professional Golf Management with a minor in business. Max has worked in the golf industry the last 4 years on various internships across Ohio. He has had experience in both the outside and inside operations of the golf business and is currently working on becoming a full PGA A1 class member.
Max comes from a small town in Ohio called Dalton where his family currently resides. His grandfather Fritz and grandmother Carolyn used to be members at Myakka Pines for years. Carolyn has a winter home here in Florida and comes down every year with the "snowbirds". Max's father and two brothers also enjoy golf, making a perfect 4-some everytime! Sam, his younger brother, recently got his first hole-in-one....on a par 4!

Although Max is new to Florida and the area, the members and staff seem to enjoy him at Myakka and is an asset to the club. He will help to uphold a high standard of service, which our members and guests expect and deserve.

Lynn Layton, Office Manager

Lynn grew up in Nokomis, Florida but she left the area to go North to college and didn’t return for 37 years!  She never imagined she’d live in Nokomis again but seven years ago her husband, Charlie, and she decided the time had arrived to sell the big house in the country (and all the work that went with it) and get away from all the ice and snow in New York state.

Lynn and Charlie arrived in Nokomis in 2006. Shortly after getting settled in, Lynn landed a job at Myakka Pines Golf Club.  “I have loved this job from the beginning and I continue to enjoy my work here among so many friends”, Lynn said. “I find it hard to believe I’ve been here 7 years already!”

Lynn and Charlie have two sons who still live in Rochester, New York, and two little grandsons…none of whom they get to see nearly often enough!  They try to get up to see their family as often as possible.

After work Charlie and Lynn frequently walk to Nokomis Beach and they ride their bikes on Casey Key on weekends.  Lynn has a tremendous green thumb and spends time working with her plants in their lovely yards.

Most members know Lynn and appreciate her helpful dedication to their enjoyment of Myakka Pines Golf Club. Lynn’s statement “I hope to be here for many years to come; Myakka Pines is a great blend of wonderful people”, about sums it up!

Brigitte (Brie) Milus,  Food and Beverage Manager

Formerly from Chicago, Brie has worked in the restaurant industry for over 35 years.  She opened and managed restaurants in Chicago for seventeen years before deciding, with her husband, Peter, to move to Florida.

Brie wasn’t in Sarasota long before being hired to open Jeff’s Desserts on St. Armand’s Circle.  Next she served as the beverage manager at Charlie’s Crab and at Caf’e Baci, before buying a home and settling in North Port.

Although her college major was commercial art, Brie seems to always gravitate back to the restaurant industry; she says it’s “what she enjoys the most because there is always more to learn and no two days are ever the same!”

Brie began working at Myakka Pines Golf Club in 2011 and has helped upgrade the menu as well as the service.

In her spare time, Brie and Peter volunteer to help our Florida wildlife. At any time it’s needed, they become “parents” to baby squirrels, turtles, cats, owls, lizards and any other needy animals.  Their personal pets include a bearded dragon named Tarzan, rare and colorful finches and a couple of spoiled cats.  Brie also enjoys several outdoor sports…she and Peter kayak and fish every chance they get.
